We took our first Summer trip this past weekend and headed down to New Orleans
Yes, being 23 weeks pregnant and visiting a city synonymous with humidity and heat in the dead of summer may not sound like a fantastic plan, but this city was on our bucket list of must see cities BB (Before Baby) and we always say, Mother Nature is always on our side. And she truly was for this trip.
Though it was hot, it wasn’t so sticky, the humidity stayed low, we kept to the shade as much as we could and even bought an umbrella to keep us out of the sun when there wasn’t shade to be found. And it worked a charm, we loved our trusty umbrella friend!
We fell in love with this town and especially her people very quickly, it’s a place where it’s not afraid to be what it is, full of tradition, culture and amazing music.
We stayed right in the middle of Bourbon Street and I didn’t anticipate the level of revelry during their ‘quiet’ season but our hotel was a sanctuary and it was fun to witness it all, I even managed to catch some beads!
We did a few walking tours of Garden City and a Ghost tour, we hopped onto a plantation tour and also made our way over to Frenchman Street, which is where we truly fell in love with this town.
